Inspirational Journey: Three-Legged Dog Overcomes Fear and Transforms with Love Under Foster Mom’s Care
You never quite know what you are going to see when you rescue a dog. The transformation that is possible is unspeakable.
If you’ve never experienced this before, then you can experience it through the eyes of Sidewalk Specials. They rescued Eddie, a “completely emaciated” dog that was suffering terribly.
According to The Dodo, Eddie struggled with kidney problems, malnutrition, and mange, and he had tick bite fever. He only had three legs, and he struggled to get by from one day to the next.
When they first rescued the South African dog, he was fearful and did not trust humans. Rescuers tried to care for him but he tried to bite them.
That began to change when Janice got involved. She is his foster mom and it took two weeks of TLC, but his eyes began to soften and his tail began to wag.
Within three months after being rescued, he was playing and loving life. They even noticed a physical change, as his fur had changed color.
The Dodo reports that Eddie continued to live with his foster family for three months. He learned that humans could be trusted, and he loved life like never before.
Unfortunately, Eddie could not go to his forever home because he suffered from organ failure and had to be put to asleep. His foster mom held Eddie in her arms as he faded away.
It’s unfortunate that at times, a rescued dog does not make it past the difficulties they face. As in the case of Eddie, however, they can have a beautiful life, even if it is only for a short while.
A tiny puppy named Gunnar was left behind, struggling to survive. When Sidewalk Specials heard about the little pup, they raced over. Gunnar was given a piece of bread to eat by locals. He was so proud of that bit of food that he presented it to the rescuers, eager to share it.
Gunnar wouldn’t have survived if humans hadn’t stepped in. Thankfully, he was now on his way to a better life. The rescuers brought Gunnar to the vet, where he stayed overnight. The pup was cleared to go to his foster home the next morning. The video’s narrator points out that he remained strong and hopeful thanks to his positive attitude.
The adorable little pup found a home with his new mom Freya. He has such playful energy and is full of affection. Freya mentions that Gunnar is always thankful he’s been rescued. Now Gunnar gets to experience a real backyard and playtime at the beach. He couldn’t be happier!
Now that he’s all grown up, Gunnar has developed an obsession that is too adorable to miss! To experience the tiny puppy warrior for yourself, check out the video by The Dodo.
Thank you, Sidewalk Specials, for your amazing work. Gunnar’s story and transformation are so inspiring!
