A Californian influencer who gave birth in a coma after collapsing from a brain aneurysm has said she is on the road to recovery in an Instagram update shared this week.
Jackie Miller James, 35, had to have an emergency C-section after collapsing and needing to be put in a medically induced coma. In an Instagram post this week, the beauty influencer thanked followers for their “love and support” during this difficult time.

“There is more work to be done, but because of friends and family and this community, we’re ready to start living again. I’ll be sharing my journey in recovery, but to the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
Jackie required five separate brain surgeries as she remained on life support. Previous pictures showed Jackie in a coma being handed her baby daughter, who was laid on her chest.
Jackie was found by her husband, Austin, who immediately rushed her to the emergency room. In a race against time, doctors performed an emergency C-section and brain surgery simultaneously to save both Jackie and her unborn child.
In the Instagram post, Jackie wrote: “I still struggle with aphasia, which impacts my speech, and have limited use of my right arm and leg. But, I’m more motivated than ever to keep putting in the work. I look forward to sharing more about my unique journey in the hopes that it helps others going through trauma. There is hope!

“The journey to reclaim my life is ongoing but I’m grateful for this community and the opportunity to share my story with you. I hope to offer empathy, provide hope, and bring awareness to the risks women face in pregnancy.”
Jackie was expected to remain in intensive care for several months and was previously in a medically induced coma. Having had the aneurysm a week before her due date, Jackie’s newborn baby remained in intensive care for 12 days after her birth.
